These paintings are great examples of Braque's later works which I have recently discovered and grown to love. His division of space is brilliant. I love that there is a real playfulness that comes through in these paintings, in terms of subject, color, and flow. The composition is very complex and is mostly dominated by the folded billiard table in the foreground. I love how Braque is able to venture away from realism in these paintings, and works mostly with simplified shapes within complicated arrangements. There is something to be discovered in every corner of these paintings. These paintings have begun to inspire my recent works and collages.

Unrelated to the Billiard Table Series, I have also explored some of Braque's collage work (below) which is equally brilliant to his paintings and I have found very inspiring to my own work in collage.

The composition here is fascinating, and I love the tones and colors created, the random placement of the knife, and the variety in simplified shapes.
