3D Construction of Painting and Collage
3D Construction of Painting and Collage
The 3D construction I built is entirely made of card, glue and acrylic paint. The structure is meant to be a physical, 3D representation of my paintings and collage. To achieve this I knew it was important to build a structure with layers and a sense of depth. I wanted to pay special attention to the shapes I was using, similarly to how I build my collages. I painted the underlying box shape with similar colors to that of my first FMP painting. The reason for this is that I found the colors to be the most interesting out of all my FMP paintings, and I wanted the 3D structure to be presented alongside my first FMP painting. In presenting them together, the 3D structure should feel like an extension of the painting.
The structure has a sort of theater or stage set up feel to it, which I find interesting. Some of the layers of shapes I found successful because one is able to look through them into underlying structures, I think this achieves the sense of depth I was trying to create. I built the entire thing around the structure of a box to give the piece stability, however I think this somewhat detracts from the overall shape of the piece.
